You know how Kafka takes a seemingly normal situation and turns it into something deeply disturbing? Well, Patrick McGrath has that nailed. At the risk of creating spoilers, he takes the mundane and twists it until it becomes a gothic horror show and leaves you wondering how he did it (and what the heck just happened). Bizarre tales that Franz would've appreciated. I'll go on to the novels, but right now I need a short rest. Nightmare stuff and very very strange.
