First things first. You only have to buy this Omnibus And “Jennifer Blood Volume 5, to get the entire 1-36 issue run of this series! Then there are other Mini-Series, but more on that later. This edition contains “First Four Volumes”. Not the First Three which is what is written, then goes on the list in detail the Titles and ISBN of Vols 1-4? Weird. You can Fix this ANYTIME AMAZON. I accidentally bought Vol 4 from a separate Vendor, Thank You “Chuck’s Comics” for being understanding and walking me through the correct return procedure when Amazon screws up like this!Only Vol 1 is by Garth Ennis. The description puts an “Overemphasis” on Garth Ennis’ Authorship. He just wanted to do a simple, straightforward Bloody Revenge story. Which he did in the first Six Issues and as he says in the interview, he wanted to have a sadistic fun time…mission accomplished. The bulk of the book are Volumes 2-4 by Al Ewing. I’ve read a bit of his Marvel Work here and there, I knew the name. But, this is by far the best thing of his I’ve ever read. I won’t forget his writing for a long time. I disagree on the criticisms of the morality or lack of any in Jennifer Blood. That seems to be the Main point Ewing is making, I dare say as a criticism of Marvel’s The Punisher. At some point, killing, for any reason, on that scale? … There’s just basically something seriously wrong with that person Psychologically. (Which is why, famously in JLA/Avengers, “off camera” Batman totally beats the hell out of the Punisher after finding him machine gunning a den of cocaine dealers/manufacturers) I had gone back and bought all the previous “Jennifer Blood” books when I had read the first issue of the recent Continuation of her adventures. And, I have not been disappointed. If you read this, and Volume Five, I think there is a very complex, interesting story there. I might have liked things sequenced a little differently and, YES, there is quite a bit of repetition, some of which is done for dramatic effect, not always successfully. But, also, you have to remember these were put out as single issues a month apart, and the repetition may be there to remind people where they are in the story. And, last but not least…The Fine Print on Title pages says it also contains “The Ninjettes” Issues 1-6 It Does Not. This Brings the page count to 600, not 744 as listed. Little mistakes like this are rare, but not uncommon with this Publisher.Dynamite Comics is a Fantastic Publisher, and actually have a great business model. Yes, they do publish great originals like this, but, also their main hustle is brilliant! Buy up old Pulpy, cool I.P.s like Red Sonja, Vampirella, JAMES BOND!, to name a few, and one of my personal favorites “The Shadow” which for example is where I noticed an error as well…actually in the Editing of the actual Story in the Book, I haven’t gone back and seen if they ever corrected it in any future editions, if they ever collected this Shadow story…So, The Shadow as his alter-ego Lamont Cranston was walking around in 1941, and bumps into George Orwell (Famous author of “Animal Farm” and “1984” for the uninitiated). Instead of saying “ I beg your pardon” or “Excuse, me sir.” Which, would be appropriate for 1941. Lamont says…”My Bad.” So, yes…Dynamite makes so goofs here and there. But, still…I digress. So, for the record. To get all the adventures of Jennifer Blood, up to date. You can buy…Jennifer Blood OmnibusJennifer Blood Volume FiveJennifer Blood First BloodJennifer Blood Born AgainThe NinjettesJennifer Blood Bloodlines (Collecting Issue's 1-5 of the most recent storylines, there are 10 issues so far)And, I believe they are starting a New “The Ninjettes” Comic book series as well this year.
