“Africa Addio” (retitled here as “Africa Blood and Guts”) is a documentary classic! A MUST SEE film! It is timeless… and the english language version of this will keep you spellbound. It’s raw and unfiltered. It is history… REAL history, recorded by daring journalists that make today’s “journalists” look like a bunch of sissy amateurs! While it may not be for the faint of heart, it actually isn’t a film to be avoided because of the violence to both animals and humans. It’s isn’t “gruesome” like so many of today’s action, drama, and horror films are. While it does depict the killing of real animals and people, that certainly isn’t the point of the film. It is just part of the sad truth that is Africa. Africa Addio tells the story of the many countries of the continent of Africa, and what is happening now as the whites are leaving, and allowing the blacks to run things themselves. It is horrible, amusing, amazing, stunning, beautiful, and sad… all wrapped up in one film.P.S. The only downside…there are a couple of periods of wildlife beauty accompanied with music that can be a bit on the long side… but that is the advantage of a DVD (vs the theater), you can scan forward to get past it if it starts to get old.
