11 MONTHS NOW, AND NO REASON TO UPDATE MY PROFOUND APPRECIATION OF THIS PURCHASE. Getting ready for my 79th birthday tomorrow, just had my semi-annual physical yesterday, AND THE CONSISTENCY OF PERFORMANCE OF MY KALAKATE COMPARED TO THE DOC'S MEASUREMENTS WAS REALLY REASSURING ! After 4 months, NOW 11 MONTHS, of continuous 24/7 use - except for charging, showering, operating vibrating machinery - I'M STILL DELIGHTED AND FULLY SATISFIED WITH THIS PURCHASE ! ! ! I've left my original review - below - so, hopefully I can avoid some duplication. After 4 years of Samsung's Gear Fit, I've found the PERFECT FITNESS TRACKER! It has been reliable, consistently accurate and tremendously helpful. Before I buy a product, I focus on the 1-star, negative reviews . . . which led me to Kalakate. I *didn't want* a magical, do everything - phone, text, email, camera, etc., etc., etc. - watch, just a *broad variety, accurate fitness tracker* and that is just what Kalakate has consistently given me, from accurate activity/count/distance/calorie monitor, accurate heart rate, blood pressure and sleep monitor, and my one frill, control over the playing of music on my cell phone while exercising. And, the cell phone ap captures the cumulative data by event/day/activity in useful increments over an extended period of time. I've recharged the battery only two times over three weeks, each time with @1/2 the battery life still remaining (However, the watch is constantly ON). The only time I, briefly, take the watch off is to shower or when I'm operating equipment that heavily vibrates - like the power mower.I cannot believe that in reviewing the 'negative' 1 & 2-star reviews that so many problems rest with the device, BUT, the instructions and illustrations are *way too small* to be too much help. It seems many of the problems encountered stem from the cell phone to which they have been paired. My watch *will cease* to update weather, data and phone music playback *WHEN THE PHONE BATTERY RUNS DOWN*. A qwik restart on the phone charge will allow the checking of the ap which, in the upper righthand corner, will show the outline of a watch. If the double loop appears instead of the watch then closing and re-opening the ap will provide a quick re-pairing.In conclusion, I'M 3 WEEKS DELIGHTED ! ! !As a 78 year old with several potentially terminal cardiac issues, I didn’t become aware of how dependent I had become on the pedometer/timer/heart rate monitor/sleep assessment data provided me by my recently deceased GearFit that I got from Amazon a little over 4 years ago. Too quickly I responded to a late night MSN internet News ad for a device quite similar to this Kalakate. WRONG ! ! ! Delivered quite late (22 days) it took less than 48 hours to realize the error of my ways: Over-hyped, over-priced, more simulated than functioning features, and a seller whose web site and the device’s essential aps site Norton warned me against as ‘malware distributors.’ And then, because of their seemingly intentional evasion of meaningful communication, PayPal, unlike Amazon, seemed bent on complicating the return and refund.Comes now Kalakate. 72 hours in to this new device, which I haven’t taken off since the initial two hour charge, and I’m sold! The quality, performance, breadth and variety of tracking tasks, and value are unbeatable. Comparing the accuracy of the collected data (heart rate, oxygen, blood pressure, sleep assessment, steps and distance, etc.) against reliable benchmarks confirms a reliable accuracy. The unique charging system and thoughtful wristband connection suggest thoughtful, forward thinking design. The ease and convenience of downloading and installing the CT Fit ap, which my Norton security software passed without a hiccup, was a delight. If you choose the Kalakate, *read the user manual* (really fine print but perhaps the most comprehensive, best illustrated and thoughtfully presented in ‘real’ English users manual I’ve seen in a loooong time). Keep in mind you’ll be entering your user’s personal data (language, name, sex, height, weight and step distance) into the cell phone which conveys it to the watch. Too, the ‘step’ distance is *not* a ‘pace’ – which is 2 steps – which you should develop over several longer measured walks. I also get area weather, projected 2 weeks, email and phone notifications, AND can play the music on my cell phone while walking. I tried one of those ‘Dick Tracy’ watches that also serves as a phone, but nah, just too busy, and I like to slip the social leash when I’m doing ‘my’ thing. For the price and usefulness, my appreciation of this super device increases over time.I have never owned a smart watch prior to receiving my Kalakate watch so I don't have much to compare it to. I received it two weeks ago so I've had some time to figure it out before writing this review. Keep in mind, this watch costs less than $50.00 so its not fair to compare it to an Apple watch or any of the smart watches that cost hundreds more. But, what this watch does it does very well and looks great at the same time. The iPhone app that runs this watch is very easy to use and gives just the right amount of information. It enables text, phone, calendar reminders and other alerts to be sent to the watch without having to look at your phone. You cannot talk into it or reply to texts messages so don't expect it to do that if you buy one. It also tracks your activities as well as sleep patterns by days, weeks and months. Keep in mind that your phone has to be pretty close to the watch because the messages are being sent via Bluetooth. I find that if I keep within 20 feet Its pretty consistent. I like that the watch is very responsive to my touch. It's fast and smooth. It has never once locked up or not responded to my touch. I do notice that when I rotate my wrist to see the time, there is about a one second delay before the watch turns on. It took me a bit to get used to this but now that I know how it works its fine. There are multiple watch options including an analog version. The watch crystal is more durable than I thought it would be. I'm not rough with it but I do work out daily and it has been hit a bunch of times. So far there are no scratches or nicks so its a pretty durable material. My watch came with the rubber watch band. I wished that I had ordered it with the stainless band after receiving but now that I've gotten used to the rubber band I like how snug I can get it on my wrist. I will probably order a stainless band for occasional use if I can figure out what size to order. From what I see on the web for this watch they list different sizes for each type of band. I'm confused how a watch could take 3 different size watch bands and I can't get a response from the seller? When I received my watch the battery was almost fully charged so I didn't charge it for several days. When I did fully charged it, the battery literally lasted for 13 full days before the indicator finally turned red! That is twice as long as I expected. I will say that my iPhone 7 battery requires charging more frequently because the app is contently running in the background and is sending content back and forth via Bluetooth. I guess that is to be expected. If you are considering this watch, read the description thoroughly, know what you are buying and make sure you go through the watch setting before you put it on your wrist. My watch works exactly as it was described in the description and has the features it said it had. Some reviews are complaining after they receive the watch that it doesn't have a specific feature that it wasn't listed with. Some are comparing it to an Apple watch, a Garmin or a Fitbit. As I said earlier, this is a $50 watch that has a bunch of nice features but, You cannot talk into it, you cannot view your pictures on it, it will control your music but it does not play your music. I guessing these are all things that an Apple watch will do and that's why the Apple watch is so much more expensive. I recommend if this is what you are looking for.
